A chain of restaurants that serves pan-Asian cuisine is opening its first location in West Michigan and the state on Monday.

Wok Box will open a location in Grand Rapids, at 3323 28th St. SE, near Woodland Mall.

The fast-casual restaurant specializes in wok-cooked Asian cuisine with influences from Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Korea, China, Japan, India, Cambodia and Vietnam.

The location is the first of several planned locations in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek and Lansing.

“Wok Box offers unique flavors and a wide variety of products that other quick-serve Asian chains simply do not offer,” said Shivaram Boda, one of five West Michigan Wok Box franchisees.

Menu items

The Wok Box menu features stir-fry noodle boxes, rice boxes and curry boxes.

Once the base is chosen, customers choose to include chicken, beef, pork, shrimp or tofu.

The menu also features eight sauces and 14 toppings.

“We offer something for every palate, and for those with dietary restrictions, many menu items can be made vegetarian, vegan or gluten free,” Boda said.

Wok Box was founded in Edmonton, Alberta in 2004.

It began franchising in 2006 and now has more than 80 locations in Canada, the U.S. and Qatar.
