A conference showcasing high-tech innovation in the construction industry is coming downtown.

The Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter and FMI Corporation are producing the Construction Technology and Innovation Conference on Feb. 19 at DeVos Place, at 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

Registration for the day-long event begins at 7:30 a.m.

The organizers are expecting over 300 industry professionals to attend learning sessions to create a culture of innovation, improve productivity with technology and achieve operational excellence.

Highlights of the conference include sessions covering topics such as tech change management, data management and accuracy in building information modeling, or BIM.

Live tech demonstrations will feature connected tools, construction robotics and augmented reality.

Speakers include Zach Scheel, co-founder and CEO of Rhumbix, Scott Adams, director of virtual design and construction for Ghafari Associates, Julie Byrne, VP of construction services for CSM Group, Rob Leutheuser, director of virtual design and construction for The Christman Company and many more.

“The construction industry continues to wrestle with industry pressures related to the shrinking labor force, project complexity and hyper-competition,” said Jay Snyder, technology practice leader, FMI Corporation.

“At the same time, construction technologies are advancing at an accelerated pace and providing powerful solutions to these problems. There are limited opportunities for local and regional access to the industry’s most influential construction technologists and leading technology companies.”

People can register for the event online.
