A half-day summit to help nonprofit professionals understand tax planning and employment law best practices is taking place next week.

The 2019 Nonprofit Forum will be May 15 from 7:30-11 a.m. at Sunnybrook Country Club in Grandville, at 624 Port Sheldon St. SW.

The forum is being hosted by the tax prep firm Ferris, Busscher, & Zwiers, Michigan Nonprofit Association and law firm Rhoades McKee.

Donna Murray-Brown, president and CEO of Michigan Nonprofit Association, is the keynote speaker. She will discuss pressing issues in the nonprofit sector, including talent development and strategy.

Doug Rotman, Tony Zwiers and Elise VanKampen of the tax firm will discuss financial statements and accounting standards.

Mark Smith, an attorney at Rhoades McKee, will discuss how to navigate inappropriate behavior from employees.
