A trio of partners are teaming up to host a daylong event downtown to help small businesses.

The Michigan Small Business Development Center, or Michigan SBDC, SCORE Grand Rapids and Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women, or GROW, will host the Small Business Summit on April 29 in Grand Rapids at the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University, at 50 Front Ave. SW.

The summit will provide a full day of interactive workshops, mentoring and networking for new and existing businesses and entrepreneurs.

“As the primary resource partners of the SBA, our three organizations have been working on this signature event for over a year,” said Ed Garner, West Michigan regional director, Michigan SBDC.

“We wanted to offer the business community something that they had never seen before and demonstrate how we all work together to help businesses succeed. We hope to make the summit an annual event.”

Local experts will present workshops on a variety of topics under four business tracks: Beginning Your Journey; Your Growth Trajectory; Marketing Magic; and Financial Matters.

Participants can customize their day with a combination of the four tracks and/or choose to receive business consulting throughout the event.

Anne Cork, owner of Annabelle Noel Designs, will be the keynote speaker during lunch.

Participants will also have an opportunity to pitch for $1,000, with the possibility of winning $20,000 as part of the event.

Financing representatives from several organizations will be on hand: West Michigan Community Reinvestment Act Association; Fifth Third Bank; and West Michigan Community Bank.

Those interested in attending can register online for $50.
