A new 12,350-square-foot medical office building in the area is now home to a pediatric practice and several mental health providers.

The building in Crystal Springs, at 7150 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, houses Mi Kids Pediatrics, as well as five individual practitioners: Grace Ann Robertson, Ph.D., Acorn Hill Psychology; Wesley Washington, L.L.P.C., Clear Visions Counseling; Melissa Muir, Melissa Muir Counseling Services; Matthew Clark, Ph.D., The Clark Institute; and Amanda Larson, M.A., L.L.P., who's certified in dialectical behavior therapy, according to First Companies this winter.

Grand Rapids-First Companies began construction on the building last July.

Mi Kids Pediatrics launched last March and was operating out of a temporary office on Kalamazoo Avenue, just north of the new office.

The practice has five physicians: Dr. Robert Budinsky, Dr. Nicki Cain, Dr. Steve McMahon, Dr. Erika Pott and Dr. Janelle Stutzman.

“Behavioral health services are in high demand across the country, and there is a shortage of professionals to meet the need,” Pott said. “Having psychology and counseling services co-located with us is a real benefit to our patients. We find it so important to treat the whole child. This space, and the support staff we are putting in place, make that a reality.”

First Companies was also hired to manage all tenant build outs. Kentwood-based Integrated Architecture was the project's architect, and Grandville-based Grand River Bank financed the project. The project's cost was not disclosed.

“We continue to expand our portfolio of constructing medical facilities, as we fulfill the unique visions of each client,” said Matt Sink, COO, First Companies. “The Mi Kids building is quite unique in the way the tree theme is carried throughout the office, making it a welcoming and fun environment for young patients.”
