A national chain of western-themed buffet restaurants featuring pizza is opening its next location in the region.
Pizza Ranch in Orange City, Iowa said last month that it will open a restaurant some time this winter in Kentwood, at 3858 28th St. SE.
The restaurant will feature a menu of pizzas, fried chicken, salads and a buffet, as well as offer carry out, delivery and community gathering rooms.
The chain is also planning more openings in 2015, including a Holland restaurant.
“We are prepared to bring all the Pizza Ranch features fans of the brand have grown to love,” said Jay Bell, franchisee of Pizza Ranch Kentwood.
Pizza Ranch, founded in 1981, serves more than 180 locations across 13 states.
In Michigan, the franchise serves restaurants in Hudsonville and Muskegon.
Bell said a “very close family friend” is the owner of the Sioux Falls, South Dakota Pizza Ranch, which exposed him to the chain’s “focus on community outreach.”
Bell said that he and his wife grew up in Michigan and graduated from Grand Valley State University.
He added that as a couple, they “considered how to contribute” to the community and “introducing a fun new business and some great food to the area was a no brainer.”
