A plastics distributor in the region is growing its presence in the Philadelphia market via acquisition.

Kalamazoo-based Total Plastics Inc., or TPI, said yesterday that it has acquired Northeast Plastic Supply, or NEP, in Philadelphia.

NEP is a distributor of polymer shapes with specialization in acrylic material and display products. The company also offers CNC routing, cutting, turning and milling.

NEP will continue to work from its production facility in northeast Philadelphia and its retail and business-to-business location, Everything Plastic, in the Northern Liberty neighborhood.

Reaching “goal” for Philly market

“We’re not only broadening our company portfolio through the acquisition of NEP, we’re also welcoming their team of highly skilled and outstanding employees,” said Tom Garrett, president, Total Plastics, Inc. “Their business model aligns very well with ours. We identified NEP has an excellent opportunity to both grow our business and strengthen our presence in this region.”

TPI opened its first branch in the Philadelphia area in 2003.

“Our goal has always been to grow our presence in this market, and we’ve continually sought better avenues into it,” Garrett said. “With NEP, we have the ideal solution. It re-affirms our commitment to grow this business.”
