A health system is expanding its presence in the region by opening a new primary care practice with a team of doctors moving from another system.

As part of a regional growth strategy, Spectrum Health Medical Group said this week that a group of primary care physicians will be joining it in Muskegon.

The new Spectrum Health Medical Group Family & Internal Medicine practice will open in October and be staffed by Dr. Diana Davidson, Dr. Craig Elliott, Dr. Howard LeRoux, Jr., Dr. Hernan Lescay and Dr. Adelita Saenz.

Davidson, LeRoux and Saenz are family medicine physicians, and Lescay and Elliiott are internal medicine physicians.

The doctors will work in a single medical office building at 1845 Holton Rd. The practice will open in October, but scheduling for appointments will begin July 1 by calling (231) 891-8399.

The doctors had been listed as part of the Mercy Health Physician Partners Bear Creek practice, according to that group's website this week.

“We are excited to have this dedicated group of physicians join our team,” said Seth Wolk, president, Spectrum Health Medical Group. “We are always looking for ways to better serve our patients along the lakeshore. This group’s commitment to patients and their view of regional care are an excellent fit with the Medical Group, and they will be a vital part of our success and growth.”

The setup will give patients additional benefits, including an expanded network of regional specialists, surgeons, researchers and experts, Elliott said.

Elliott said the practice will look forward to serving its patients with "coordinated care that is connected to an excellent health system."

He added the practice will have "seamless interaction" with all Spectrum Health locations, allowing specialists, hospital care providers and practice staff to view "one common medical record, ensuring patient care and safety.”
