A product development company in the region is planning to grow its team of designers and engineers.

Zeeland-based Disher said yesterday that it plans to invest $1.4 million to expand its workforce at its Zeeland and Ann Arbor locations, creating at least 42 jobs as the company continues to grow.

Disher has a workforce of about 130 employees and anticipates hiring for various roles: Catia designer, software developer, electronics engineer, lean leader, quality engineer, project manager, manufacturing engineer and industrial designer.

Disher plans to invest in and grow its headquarters, at 201 W. Washington Ave., to accommodate about 17 new hires.

The company will continue to offer training programs and maintain its office space in Zeeland and Ann Arbor.

Disher received support at both the local and state levels for its workforce expansion plans.

The Michigan Economic Development Corp., or MEDC, awarded Disher a $200,000 performance-based grant through the Michigan Business Development Program to help fund the expansion.

Jeff Disher, founder and president of Disher, said the company is excited to receive the MEDC grant.

“It will enable us to expand our mission to ‘Make a Positive Difference’ in the communities we work, live and serve,” Disher said. “We believe our company and the work we do should be meaningful and have a lasting impact.”

Ann Arbor SPARK, an economic development organization, also committed staff time, resources and networking services to Disher.

Paul Krutko, president and CEO of Ann Arbor SPARK, said Disher has gained prestige as one of the best places to work.

“It is exciting to have those highly desirable jobs in Ann Arbor,” Krutko said. “Through our talent portal and business development services, Ann Arbor SPARK is committed to connecting talented job seekers in our region to this growing company.”

Since 2000, Disher has provided design solutions for clients as they develop products.

The company provides a number of services: front-end discovery, engineering feasibility, manufacturing technology, talent attraction, product launch and business solutions.
