A public adjustment firm for the insurance industry based on the state’s east side has opened a Grand Rapids location.

Southfield-based Globe Midwest/Adjusters International, or Globe Midwest, said last week it opened a 700-square-foot office in downtown Grand Rapids, in the Blodgett Building at 15 Ionia Ave. SW, Suite 300.

“We … look forward to using our long experience in the region to help local families and businesses successfully navigate the insurance claims process to get the fair and just settlements they deserve after disasters,” said Carl Gross, COO, Globe Midwest.

“West Michigan continues to build on an already rich and diverse economy with many regional and national companies opening new offices in and around Grand Rapids. By expanding our presence into this area, we can offer local expertise that levels the playing field for these businesses after disasters by evaluating, documenting and negotiating their insurance claims for the maximum amount so they can get back to business sooner.”

Jeff Uherek, who has more than 20 years of experience in the restoration, mitigation and insurance claim industries, has been appointed regional vice president and will oversee the Grand Rapids location, which has a staff of three.

Uherek previously was founder and CEO of Ypsilanti-based ProCare Restoration, a mitigation and restoration firm that was acquired in 2017.

“We are eager to meet new clients, deepen our connections with existing clients and develop relationships with new partners,” Uherek said.

The Grand Rapids office will specialize in representing homeowners, commercial property owners and business owners during the insurance claim process “to ensure each receives a fair and just settlement,” according to Globe Midwest.

Public adjusters at the downtown Grand Rapids location will serve clients in greater Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Holland, Muskegon, Battle Creek, Grand Haven and more.

A Globe Midwest spokesperson said the company plans to hire more employees for the Grand Rapids location in 2020.

Chip Bowling, from Bradley Company, represented Globe Midwest in the real estate transaction.
