Angela Ditmar is the president of Spectrum Health Pennock and the system's southeast regional market leader.
Since joining Spectrum Health in 2011, Ditmar has held a variety of leadership positions: VP, operations, cancer health and women’s health; director for cardiovascular services; and providing oversight for respiratory care, bronchoscopy and sleep disorder centers.
She has participated on numerous boards and professional advisory boards and served as a mentor in the Association of Cancer Executives fellowship program.
Ditmar, an R.N., holds an associate’s degree in nursing, both her bachelor’s degree in business and an M.B.A. from Davenport University, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ferris State University. She’s currently pursuing an M.S. in nursing.
Biggest career break?
When I was promoted to my first leadership role at 24, leading people who had been nurses longer than I had been alive.
When I become a registered nurse. I am the youngest member and only member of my family to have a college degree, so this was an especially important achievement.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Always do your best and never let anyone tell you what you can or can’t achieve
How did you make your first dollar?
I was a nurse’s aide at 16. It was at this time I developed the passion to pursue a career in nursing.

If you were president of the United States for a day, you would … ?
I would concentrate on developing a plan to eliminate our national debt and decrease prescription drug costs for our patients.

Giving in to loving on my dogs before leaving the house. I keep a lint brush in my car, in my briefcase and in my office.
