As a 17-year real estate veteran, Ingrid Nelson has served hundreds of clients over the years with utmost professionalism and has been very active in her local real estate association.
Her MBA and previous background working in the international departments of several Fortune 500 companies gave her the foundation to develop the international program in her local real estate association where she also teaches international real estate.
Biggest career break?
I don’t think I ever had a “big career break.” I think just developing small daily successful habits has gotten me to where I am today.
Definitely winning the Greater Regional Alliance of Realtors (GRAR) REALTOR of the Year Award for 2018 was my proudest career moment. With so many hard-working, dedicated professionals in my association, the award was truly an honor.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
I was nervous about moving to Japan for a year after college since I didn’t speak a word of Japanese and knew very little of Japanese culture. My mother and friend actually encouraged me to go. I am so glad that I took their advice. My experience abroad opened up many doors for me including future international professional assignments and many culturally diverse friendships!
How did you make your first dollar?
In college to earn extra spending money, I served ice cream at a local ice cream store. I think I ate almost as much ice cream as I scooped but I sure had great muscle tone in my right arm from so much scooping!
A little piece of turquoise that is supposed to bring good luck to travelers. It was given to me when I was 16 years old and I have carried it in my wallet ever since.
My current job selling real estate with a focus on helping international buyers and sellers.
If you were president for a day, you would … ?
In whatever leadership role I am in, I do and would continue to focus on education and foster better communication and understanding among people of different backgrounds.

A medical term after learning a friend’s daughter was recently diagnosed with a kidney disease.
Your worst habit?
Binge-watching Netflix at night.
To unwind, you like to … ?
Spend time with my two beautiful girls, Sydney (12) and Kinsley (9). If not with them, I like to spend time in my yard gardening or planning my next vacation overseas.
To go to any country I haven’t been to yet! My goal is to visit and stay in over 60 countries. As of now, I am a little over halfway there!
Person you most admire?
All mothers who successfully are raising children while maintaining their own identity by having their own careers.
