Family Church recently purchased the former Huntington Bank headquarters in Holland for $7 million.

Constructed in 1992, the three-story building consists of 132,127 square feet and sits on 41.7 acres at 10717 Adams St. The site includes a private drive, parking and close access to downtown Holland and Grand Rapids via I-196.

While the building currently features a fitness center, cafeteria, conference rooms, security offices and a loading dock, Family Church said it will use this space in new ways. The main floor will be used for both fellowship and sanctuary worship space while the upper floor will be used as an educational area.

Plans for the lower space are still to be determined, though the church said it has considered day care and preschool space.

The site will mark the third location for Family Church, which has its Grace Campus at 9530 Woodbridge St. in Zeeland and its Ebenezer Campus at 5166 Ottogan St. in Holland.

“We’re thrilled to be opening a third location at this building where we have the flexibility to make it exactly what we want and need,” said Adam Grill, lead pastor at Family Church. “This is an incredible opportunity to support our growth and continue to be of service to the West Michigan community. We are ready for this next step in our journey and are prepared to create a welcoming and enticing space for everyone.”

The church said it plans to begin services in the new building in 2023.

JLL Senior Vice President Jeff Karger represented the seller, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Arrowpoint Capital, in the deal.

“As this building is one of the largest in Holland Township, we’re excited to see it go into the hands of an organization that focuses so heavily on the community,” Karger said. “We’re delighted to have found a creative use for this building through Family Church, and we can’t wait to see the final product.”

Steve Sterken of Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt represented Family Church in the deal.
