A residential real estate brokerage has bought and renovated a new urban office for its team.
For the last six years, JGR Real Estate had been located in Grand Rapids’ East Hills neighborhood, at 975 Cherry St. SE.
The firm said last month that it has moved out of its old location and into the former Nash’s Outlet space in Grand Rapids, at 600 Bridge St. NW.
Grand Rapids-based Wolverine Building Group did about $150,000 in renovation work on the 100-year-old building recently purchased by the brokerage.
“We moved for several reasons: East Hills' space was no longer sufficient in size. We desired to be street level and also to own our building, rather than continue as renters,” said Julie Grevengoed, a broker who founded the firm in 2009. “We saw all the activity on the west side and wanted to be a part of it.”
The main level of the building is 2,500 square feet, and the second floor is 1,500 square feet.
The brokerage occupies the main level, and there is an apartment on the second level, but it would be an easy area for expansion as the firm grows, Grevengoed said.
“We have desks for 10 people in the office currently,” she said.
JGR Real Estate has 13 realtors and two administrative staff.
The space features 12-foot tin ceilings and open floor plan, designed for hosting community and other events, a training room, kitchen, conference room and offices.
She added that the space has a booth for “home office agents to work at when they drop by, which is a very comfortable and semi-private place to work.”
