A residential real estate firm is constructing a new building in the area that will house one of its offices and feature several retail spaces.

The RE/MAX of Grand Rapids building will be located in Wyoming, at 5651 Byron Center Ave. SW, and be the base for more than 60 real estate agents.

The firm will occupy 11,000 square feet of the 23,000-square-foot development.

The project should be completed by next summer.

RE/MAX of Grand Rapids owners, the husband-and-wife team Rachael Veldkamp and David Veldkamp, said, they're "thrilled to be able to create such an amazing, new home base for our incredibly hard-working and talented agents.”

The building will also have seven retail suites on the first floor, which can accommodate service partners, such as title, mortgage, insurance or home design firms, as well as shopping and food options.

The new Wyoming facility will also feature collaborative spaces, a large event and education facility, drop stations and private phone booths for mobile agents, as well as a full kitchen and café.

Wyoming-based Richard Postema Associates is the architect on the project.
