A Sicilian restaurant is set to open its second location in the area.
Licari’s Sicilian Pizza Kitchen announced its plans for a second location on the corner lot of 36th Avenue and Baldwin Street in Hudsonville.
Licari’s original location is near the corner of Knapp Street and the East Beltline at 2869 Knapp St. NE.
Gianni and Lisa Licari expect the new restaurant to be open in early 2018 following the construction of the new building.
The menu, much of which largely derives from Gianni Licari’s Sicilian roots, will be the same, said Lisa Licari. The menu includes an array of pizzas, salads, pastas and sandwiches.
Licari said the new space will be larger so the restaurant will be able to host more events than the Knapp Street location.
The new building will be designed by Progressive AE architect Jim Horman, and the project is expected to go out for contractor bids next week.
Licari said the selection of Hudsonville was a combination of friends, demographics and a lack of available selection.
“We have a lot of friends out there putting the bug in our ear,” she said. “There are no options out there besides chains and it needs some diversity for food options. We studied the demographics and decided it’d be a great fit.”
The Licaris opened the Knapp Street location in 2012.
