After a 15-year run, a restaurant in the heart of downtown has closed its doors and will re-open under new ownership.

Tre Cugini in Grand Rapids, at 122 Monroe Center St. NW, served its last meal on Dec. 17, due to the retirement of its owner, Adriano Moscatelli.

The restaurant has been re-acquired by its former owner and restaurateur, Faro Uccello, and will operate under the family owned Uccello’s Hospitality Group, or UHG, umbrella.

“Re-acquiring the restaurant is like a homecoming for my family and I,” Uccello said.

Plans for the location have not been announced yet, but Chris Heileman, CEO of Uccello’s Hospitality Group, said he looks forward to “announcing our plans very soon.”

“We are very excited to be a part of the downtown community,” Heileman said.

UHG operates all five Uccello’s Ristorante locations, along with the newly developed Herb & Fire Pizzeria fast-casual concept.
