A local franchise of a Detroit-style pizza chain is hiring drivers and kitchen staff as it launches its own delivery program.
The Buddy’s Pizza location at 4061 28th St. SE in Kentwood said Wednesday that it launched direct-from-store delivery service and is hiring for delivery, carryout and kitchen staff.
Those interested can apply online at buddyspizza.com/careers.
“Buddy’s delivery is still available through DoorDash, but this service allows Buddy’s to ensure their waitstaff is employed during the dine-in shutdown by transitioning the servers to a delivery driver role, bringing Buddy’s Original Detroit-Style Pizza directly to the consumer,” a spokesperson for the restaurant said.
To order delivery through Buddy’s, customers can call the store to place their order and mention they would like it delivered.
Delivery orders are conducted through the same no-contact payment service offered with curbside carryout.
Founded in 1946, Farmington Hills-based Buddy’s Pizza serves “Detroit-style” rectangular deep-dish pizza with thick and crispy crusts and toppings such as mushrooms and pepperoni, originally inspired by Sicilian recipes.
It also offers gluten-free pizzas, salads, burgers and more.
