A Midwest retailer will bring back a virtual summit focused on local businesses.
Walker-based Meijer said it plans to host its second Lift Local Supplier Event, giving local retailers and small businesses an opportunity to showcase their offerings to Meijer buyers and procurement teams.
The event will take place virtually from Tuesday to Thursday, July 19-21, and focus on categories such as grocery, beauty, personal care, baby and wellness.
Meijer’s first Lift Local summit took place in April 2021.
“After a successful first event, we’re excited to further grow our community of local business vendors,” said Jamie Akemann, group vice president of global sourcing, indirect procurement, supplier diversity and product quality at Meijer. “This isn’t just an opportunity for fully developed brands, but a chance for us to build relationships with small, local businesses and invest in their long-term success.”
Businesses that manufacture or grow retail-ready products in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Kentucky can apply for consideration through RangeMe.
Once event applications are submitted, Meijer teams will review and select vendors to invite to a virtual or in-person meeting ahead of the summit.
Suppliers not chosen for the event still will be accessible through the RangeMe registration tools and might be reviewed again by Meijer buyers in the future.
The deadline to apply is May 20.
