A Muskegon pizza restaurant now is in the hands of a Holland resident and entrepreneur.

Grand Rapids-based Small Business Deal Advisors (SBDA) said Wednesday, Nov. 10, it closed on the sale of Mr. Scrib’s Pizza in Muskegon to investor Sunyoung Kim, a multi-entrepreneur and Holland resident.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The chain has five locations in Muskegon, North Muskegon, Norton Shores and Grand Haven. Kim acquired the location at 6826 E. Apple Ave. in Muskegon.

Mr. Scrib’s Pizza serves a bevy of specialty pizzas based on secret recipes for in-house dining and pickup. While best known for its pizza, Mr. Scrib’s also offers a full dinner menu with subs and various side dishes.

SBDA advised Mr. Scrib’s Pizza on the sale, with the transaction managed by Doug Yntema, an SBDA mergers and acquisitions associate.

Jim Stein acquired this Mr. Scrib’s location in 2018. As he approached retirement, he engaged SBDA to assist with the sale of the restaurant.

“I’m grateful to Doug and the SBDA team for their support, level of expertise and confidentiality through the sale,” Stein said. “This restaurant has been part of the Muskegon community for over 40 years. I’m pleased to have found an owner who is excited to keep it going, and I wish her the best of luck.”

Mr. Scrib’s Pizza is the first restaurant under Kim’s ownership, according to SBDA, although her family owns a few restaurants on the east side of the state.

Kim declined to comment on the deal.
