A discount retail chain is shuttering six stores in the region.

Statewide, 24 Family Dollar stores will close, according to Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, notices filed with the state.

The stores are expected to be closed on or around June 30, according to the filings.

The Michigan store closings will affect 186 employees, including 33 in West Michigan.

More than 2,700 jobs could be cut as a result of the sale, according to the Observer.

Earlier this year, Dollar General announced it plans to open 1,000 new stores and create 10,000 jobs across the U.S., the Observer reports.
