A national outdoor retailer with locations in West Michigan is hosting liquidation sales.

The sales at a number of stores across the Gander Mountain chain, which filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in March and has been bought in the process, run through May 18.

Gander Mountain has several stores in the region: Kentwood, Grandville, Portage and Coldwater. The chain has 13 stores total across Michigan.

Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Camping World, headed by CEO Marcus Lemonis, a CNBC TV personality, said today it purchased certain assets of Gander Mountain, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, and plans on keeping at least 70 locations open. The Gander Mountain brand currently has 160 stores in 26 states.

Camping World bought the brand and leases, and a different buyer bought the inventories and is performing the liquidation sales.

In a Twitter video, Lemonis said he'll pick stores to remain open in the coming weeks based on profitability opportunities.
