A school in the area is hosting an event to discuss the growth potential of Latinos in the workforce, economy and higher education.

San Juan Diego Academy, a K-8 Catholic school, is hosting a panel discussion and question-and-answer session on Feb. 12 from 7:15-8:30 p.m. at its campus in Wyoming, at 1650 Godfrey Ave. SW.

Several people will be part of the panel: Katie Hoekstra of Varnum; Rev. Stephen Dudek of Holy Name of Jesus Church; Rosa Fraga of Michigan United; San Juan Diego Academy Principal Rick Muniz; and Felipe Lopez Sustaita of the Hispanic Commission of Michigan.

They will cover multiple topics: workforce diversity; Latinos and the future of the Catholic church; gaining citizenship; success in educating; and recruiting and retaining Latinos.

The event is free and includes refreshments.
