A Grand Rapids security company has acquired a former competitor in the area.

EPS Security said this week it acquired Comstock Park-based Video-Tech-Tronics.

EPS said VTT’s 1,500 business and residential customers will grow its customer base to more than 28,300.

The acquisition includes business operations only. It does not include VTT’s facilities located at 859 W. River Center Dr.

“VTT’s growth over the past 24 years has been predominantly internal, stemming from the referrals of our client base,” said Chris Johnson, president, VTT. “We decided to seek this acquisition by a larger company, as it will allow us to provide a wider array of high-tech services and products to our customers. It will also offer more opportunity to our employees as they continue their careers.”

Thirteen VTT employees have joined the EPS team, including nine security systems technicians.

EPS said the added staff will allow the company to be more responsive and efficient for its customers in Michigan.

“Chris Johnson and his outstanding team at VTT are wonderful additions to EPS Security, and we are proud to welcome them,” said Kevin Carlson, president, EPS Security. “VTT has an excellent reputation with their customers and within the community.”

EPS will soon move customers subscribed to VTT’s 24/7 monitoring services to its monitoring center in Grand Rapids.
