A juice and smoothie bar that also serves breakfast and lunch foods has opened in Grand Rapids.

Fruition Acai & Juice Bar opened last month in the city's Eastown neighborhood, at 1405 Lake Dr. SE.

Owners Lindsey Sayles and Leah Cason, who are sisters, said they opened the business to help customers live their “best lives” through eating fresh, healthy foods.

“I’ve been in the health care industry for the last six years, and my sister was in skincare,” Sayles said. “We’re passionate about health. There’s nothing quick and easy in the Eastown area that you can grab and go, so that’s why we wanted to start this business.”

They serve cold-pressed juices, fresh smoothies and acai bowls, as well as a range of wraps and toast and bagel offerings in a café setting with tables and a bar at the window.

Acai is a kind of “superfood” berry that's similar to a grape and harvested from palm trees native to South America.

“We actually lived in Florida for about a year, because our family’s there, and we fell in love with acai when we were down there,” Sayles said.

“We ended up moving back to Grand Rapids and wanted to open in the Eastown area. We gave up for a while, because we couldn’t find a location. Then our current building opened, and we said, ‘It’s a sign. We’ve got to do it.’”

The juice bar is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
