A building services company acquired a local commercial cleaning business.

An undisclosed buyer in the building services market recently acquired Wyoming-based Aggressive Cleaning Services, according to Grand Rapids-based Calder Capital, the mergers and acquisitions firm that represented the buyer in the transaction.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2000, Aggressive Cleaning offers commercial services such as window cleaning, carpet cleaning, water damage restoration, emergency water extraction and biohazard cleaning primarily at office buildings and medical facilities in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Aggressive Cleaning Services President Ryan VanderGraaf bought the company from its previous owners in 2014 and grew it substantially. He said he was seeking a partner in the business so he wouldn’t have to wear so many hats and could spend more time with his family.

According to Calder Capital, the buyer was looking to vertically integrate and expand its building services through acquisition, and Aggressive Cleaning Services fit the bill.

Through the partnership with the new owner, VanderGraaf now will have the ability to buy more equipment, build his fleet of service vehicles, and hire managers and employees, which will allow him to develop new business, bid on larger commercial cleaning contracts and spend more time with family.

“It was great working with both parties to reach a mutually beneficial transaction,” said Parker Schaap, an M&A associate with Calder Capital. “Our client had a clear target of what they were looking for, and we delivered. Ryan will now be able to work on the business instead of in the business. I am excited to see the two companies grow together in this partnership.”
