A local member association will host a forum on the topic of transforming a family-owned business for relevance in the next generation.

Family Business Alliance in Grand Rapids said Wednesday, Oct. 27, it will host a family forum featuring keynote speaker Ross Hudson, CFO of Chicago-based Fidelitone, from 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel at 187 Monroe Ave. NW in downtown Grand Rapids.

Hudson will share how a manufacturer and distributor of phonographic needles for record players and juke boxes transformed itself into the fourth-generation, family-owned third-party logistics business Fidelitone is today. He will discuss the business’s journey as a privately held company, the key drivers that helped its transformation and how the company continues to sustain growth.

Fidelitone offers specialized solutions in supply chain management with expertise around consumer products. The business manages resources, creates right-fit solutions, and optimizes supply chain processes to advance business performance and profitability. Fidelitone offers a national supply chain network of locations to support clients in inbound logistics, order fulfillment, last-mile delivery and service parts management. It operates facilities in Chicago; Elizabethton and Nashville, Tennessee; Chandler, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Reno, Nevada.

As CFO, Hudson oversees Fidelitone’s accounting and finance, human resources and payroll, and billing departments. His teams are responsible for reporting the company’s finances, hiring and developing talent, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Hudson represents the fourth generation of his family to be a part of the business, joining Fidelitone in January 2009 as director of M&A. His expertise helped Fidelitone grow the business by acquisitions of companies in last-mile delivery, inbound logistics and order fulfillment.
