Culled from over 550 nominations, 90 small businesses recently were selected to be honored at the 18th annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business awards gala on May 3.
Over 800 guests will gather in person at the Breslin Center in East Lansing to celebrate the achievements of this year’s award recipients.
The award categories include:
- Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Award
- Best Small Business Award
- Distinguished Alumni Award
- Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year Award
The full list of award recipients can be found at michigancelebrates.org.
The gala launched in 2005 and has become a premier awards program for small businesses, with over 1,000 companies honored during the past 18 years, including 900 second-stage companies recognized by a Michigan 50 Companies to Watch Award.
“Our grandparents started our business with values and work ethic that has fought through two pandemics and all points in between,” said Nancy Rehmann, owner of Ed Rehmann’s, a 2022 award recipient. “This award is an inspiration to our team and our community. We are hopeful that this recognition will help us to continue to provide economic benefits to our small town by attracting visitors from around the state with the same kind of quality, service and dependability our customers have relied on since 1919.”
During the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, small businesses in all industries learned to become nimble and innovative to accomplish their goals. The 2022 awards gala will give them a chance to share their success stories with the supporters who helped them get to where they are today.
The six founding partners of Michigan Celebrates include the Edward Lowe Foundation, Michigan Business Network, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Small Business Development Center, Small Business Association of Michigan and the U.S. Small Business Administration – Michigan District Office.
