A food maker in the region has added two flavors to one of its signature snack lines.

Battle Creek-based Kellogg Company said it will release Birthday Cake and Cookies ’n’ Crème flavors to its Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats line beginning in January.

The new flavors were inspired by “the most sought-after flavors of homemade Rice Krispies Treats on social media,” Kellogg said.

“We are so excited to announce these brand-new flavors,” said Emily Minardi, associate marketing director of Rice Krispies Treats.

“Every day presents a reason to celebrate, whether it’s a big occasion, like a birthday, or a little victory, like completing a math test.”

Birthday Cake features rainbow sprinkles and a crème drizzle, while Cookies ’n’ Crème consists of chocolate cookie crumbles and a crème coating.

Both snack varieties will be packaged in Rice Krispies Treats write-on wrappers to create custom messages of encouragement.

Founded in 1906, Kellogg had 2016 sales of $13 billion and offers more than 1,600 foods, including cereals, crackers, savory snacks and frozen foods.
