A local software firm has moved to a Grand Rapids suburb.
Michigan Software Labs, which makes mobile, web, IoT and embedded device software, said it hosted a grand opening last week at its new office in Ada Village, at 452 Ada Dr. SE.
The firm, founded in 2010, was previously located in Grand Rapids, at 3501 Lake Eastbrook Blvd. SE.
The new space is roughly 3,000 square feet, which includes an outdoor deck area, and is an upgrade from its previous 1,800-square-foot space.
Michigan Software Labs currently has 10 employees and plans to add more mobile developers and designers.
The firm was founded by Mark Johnson and Joshua Hulst.
The layout of the space features a welcome lobby for clients and guests, two private offices for the owners, a connecting room in the middle for one-on-one meetings, a conference room, two break rooms and the deck for hosting events.
Amenities include a kitchen area with a snack station, adjustable stand-up desks and a bathroom with a shower and lockers.
Johnson said the firm was drawn to Ada Village for many reasons, including the ability to promote a healthy lifestyle for its employees through walking, biking and kayaking.
“It is easy for our clients and contacts to meet us in Ada, because the traffic is much lighter than going downtown or on the East Beltline,” Johnson said. “And the parking is free in Ada. We look forward to being able to walk to parks, restaurants, grocery stores and other parts of the village.”
Firms on the project
Michigan Software Labs has entered a 10-year lease with the space's landlord, Geld, an affiliate of Amway.
Grand Rapids-based First Companies was the project’s contractor.
