Several West Michigan spirit makers made a name for themselves in New York.
At the 10th-annual New York International Spirits Competition, Grand Rapids-based Wise Men Distillery garnered Michigan Rum Distillery of the Year, and Grand Rapids-based Long Road Distillers won Michigan Gin Distillery of the Year.
Wise Men also won a silver medal for its Red Tape Series Rum and a bronze for its vodka.
Long Road Distillers took home two bronze medals for its gin and Michigin, made entirely with Michigan-sourced ingredients.
Coppercraft Distillery in Holland also won silver for its straight bourbon and a bronze for its gin.
The competition featured over 60 categories and over 600 submissions from 29 countries.
