A sports company has taken over operation of an 85,000-square-foot sports facility in the area.
Michigan Sports Academies, or MSA, said last week that MVP Sports Spot in Kentwood, at 3701 32nd St. SE, became MSA Sports Spot, effective Jan. 1.
Terms of the deal — which changes the facility’s management, not building ownership — were not disclosed.
MSA Sports Spot
Opened in 2007 as MVP Sports Spot, the facility houses three open fields available for rental.
MSA Sports Spot is being evaluated for updates and improvements to be completed this summer.
Founded in July 2007 and headquartered in Grand Rapids, MSA is the parent company of the Michigan Volleyball Academy, Michigan Basketball Academy and Michigan Lacrosse Academy.
Since 2011, MSA said the number of Michigan Volleyball Academy participants on AAU teams has doubled to nearly 800, with 132 MVA alums going on to collegiate careers.
MSA also operates MSA Fieldhouse and MSA Woodland.
