A local sports venue has re-opened after a $2.7-million renovation project.

MSA Sports Spot, owned by Michigan Sports Academies and located at 3701 32nd St. SE, Grand Rapids, hosted its open house on Monday after being closed since May for renovation.

The 85,000-square-foot facility was revamped by Rockford Construction and AMDG Architects. It houses five volleyball courts, which also can be reconfigured as futsal courts, as well as two soccer fields and a turf training field, private basketball training court, retail store and concession stand.

Previously, the facility was used only for soccer. MSA purchased it in January.

MSA was founded in July 2007 to develop athletes’ skills through tiered training programs, including camps, clinics and private lessons taught by collegiate-level coaches.
