Two more entrepreneurial ideas have each earned an initial $5,000 investment from Start Garden.

Boo-Boo Covers and Vital Sleep Headband are the latest products to get an entrepreneurial nudge from Rick DeVos’s nonprofit startup.

Boo-Boo Covers is a cover-up product that uses temporary tattoo technology and natural ingredients to cover skin blemishes such as scars, birthmarks, moles or even tattoos.

“Boo-Boo Covers last for days, and the natural flaxseed and soybean oil help repair the boo-boo. Hyde Ink focuses on covering dark, permanent tattoos, so their ingredients are closer to paint,” wrote idea creator Brady Jans on her Start Garden Page. “Boo-Boo Covers would come as a gradient of shades, so you can layer for additional opacity as needed, allowing the skin to ‘breathe.’ Plus, our formula is loaded with natural healing ingredients.”

The Vital Sleep Headband idea was selected by a majority of endorsements on the Start Garden website at www.startgarden.com. The product, created by Scott Brandonisio, is a headband that uses noise cancelling technology to allow patients in hospitals to get a good night’s sleep and recover faster. The headband also serves as a monitoring tool for doctors and nurses.

“It eliminates both obstacles of sleeping in hospitals: exterior noise and nurses checking vitals. The wireless transmission of vitals will increase operational efficiency in hospitals,” Brandonisio wrote on his Start Garden page. “Our research has shown if our product is adopted, hospitals, patients and HMOs will all benefit financially from increased patient turnover.”

Ten project originators will return Nov. 29 to give a public update about their progress at the next Start Garden meeting.
