A franchise of sub restaurants has opened its fourth location in the region on 28th Street.
Firehouse Subs said this month that it has opened a location at 5557 28th St. SE, at Kraft Avenue SE.
The fast-casual restaurant serves meats and cheeses on a toasted sub bun and is known for its collection of more than 50 hot sauces.
The 28th Street location features a mural of a Cascade fire truck in a local park with fireman performing precautionary maintenance.
The mural was painted by Joe Puskas, along with his team, who paint every location's mural at his studio at the Firehouse Subs headquarters.
The location is owned by siblings Michael and Sally Riggs, who also own the Firehouse Subs in Grand Rapids, at 2090 Celebration Dr. NE.
The franchise also has locations in Comstock Park and Muskegon.
The Firehouse Subs franchise was started by former firefighters, and each location’s décor represents fire and police service.
Firehouse Subs serves more than 890 restaurants in 43 states.
It was rated the second fastest-growing U.S. franchise in 2015 by Nation’s Restaurant News.
Through its Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the franchise said it has given more than $13 million to “hometown heroes” across the country, including $183,000 in Michigan.
