Baseball, hot dogs and . . . wine?
Baseball normally pairs its staple food with soda or beer, but the Battle Creek Bombers will host Wine in the Park beginning tomorrow at 5::30 p.m. at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek.
The evening will feature samples from area wineries and various vendor booths, including food, salons, jewelry, home goods and health and wellness.
The game between the Bombers and Wisconsin Rapids Rafters will begin at 7:05.
Tickets to the event are $25 and include admission to the baseball game, three hours of wine sampling, souvenir light-up wine glass, a ticket to a future Bombers game and entry into vendor giveaways.
More than ten wineries will be in attendance: St. Julian Winery, Lawton Ridge Winery, Cody Kresta Winery, Fenn Valley Winery, Round Barn Winery, Warner Vineyards and more.
Representatives from the wineries will be on hand to talk about the varieties they brought and the winemaking process.
The Battle Creek Bombers are a team in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league.
All players on the team must have NCAA eligibility to participate.
Teams are run similar to minor league teams, and players use wooden bats to allow college players a chance to hone their skills during the summer at a near-professional level.
