Tech company names VPs

A local technology company has named three new vice presidents.

Grand Rapids-based Blue Medora, a maker of IT management software, said that this month that it has hired Charles Bass as VP of channels, Dale Adkins as VP of business development and Christian Fernando as VP of product.

The company also named Ian Wells a regional sales director.

“We are delighted to welcome Charles, Dale, Christian and Ian to the team, at what is an exciting time for the company,” Blue Medora CEO Nathan Owen said. “Their collective expertise and passion for software innovation will help Blue Medora expand our global reach and extend adoption of IT operational analytics.”


Most recently VP of channel sales at California-based flash storage manufacturer Tegile, Bass will oversee Blue Medora’s expansion of business opportunities with companies such as New Relic and VMware.

Previously, Bass served as VP of alliances and strategic accounts at Maryland-based Promark Technology and as director of channel sales at Colorado-based LeftHand Networks.

Bass holds an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee.


Adkins has more than 30 years of commercialization experience in technology, including work as senior advisor with IBM in the Watson Internet of Things and Analytics division. He also served in the Tivoli Software unit at IBM.

Previously, he was VP of business development at Access360, which was acquired by IBM in 2002, VP of business affairs and operations at California-based Xdrive, acquired by AOL, VP development at California-based ISOCOR, acquired by Critical Path, senior manager of corporate transactions at KPMG in Los Angeles and VP of strategic planning and general counsel at Ohio-based Sharp Technologies.

He’ll look to further strategic relationships with customers and partners at Blue Medora.

Adkins holds a B.S. in zoology and animal biology from Marshall University.

He also has a doctor of law from the Capital University Law School and is pursuing an M.S. in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University.


Fernando has 20 years of IT experience and will now lead Blue Medora in product strategy and partner integrations.

In the past, Fernando was CTO at the Florida-based software company eZassi and has held the same position at Compliance Systems in Grand Rapids.

Fernando holds a B.S. from Aquinas College and an M.S. in computer science from Michigan State University.


Based in the U.K., Wells will seek to grow business in Blue Medora’s EMEA, which attracted an 50-percent increase in customers this past year.

Wells was a senior director of sales in EMEA at U.K.-based PernixData, regional sales director for U.K. and Ireland at EMC and VP of northwest and regional director of sales at Veeam.

He holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of Hertfordshire.
