A provider of employee coaching software is hosting a daylong seminar on the art of people management.

Comstock Park-based Waypoint will host Route Talks: Wisdom for the Expedition of Management on Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Postma Center at Pine Rest in Cutlerville, at 300 68th St. SE.

Mike Sudyk, founder of Waypoint, says in a video promoting the event on the firm’s website that management can sometimes “feel like herding cats,” and his team created the Route Talk event to help businesses dealing with the “growth bottleneck” of developing a high-performance team.

“We’re bringing in experts to talk about how you go on this journey of growing your business,” Sudyk says. “The only way you’re going to grow your business is through your people.”

Event schedule

A light breakfast with coffee and networking will be held from 8:30-9 a.m., followed by a group activity, plus keynote speakers, lunch and panel discussions.

Attendees will hear from several people: Mike Harris, co-founder, Worksighted; Denise Van Eck, owner, Thought Design; Matt Jung, co-founder, Comfort Research; Brian Cawley, professor at Calvin University; and more.

Tickets, $89 per person for groups of six to eight, or $99 per individual, are available online until Sept. 12.

Sudyk founded Waypoint in 2017 to transform the employee review process from an “ineffective” annual performance review to an ongoing one-on-one coaching process.

The firm offers customized software for individual managers, companies and corporate enterprises that is designed to create “positive change” and boost retention.
