A technology firm is growing its suburban office to hire more employees.

Ada-based Michigan Software Labs will expand this month into a 1,643-square-foot, second-floor space in the office building at 452 Ada Dr. SE.

The software firm is already leasing 2,541 square feet on the third floor of the building – which also includes a 620-square-foot deck — as of December 2017.

“The growing manufacturing, automotive and logistics industries have driven our growth, and we are always growing based on what our clients need,” said Mark Johnson, co-founder and partner, Michigan Software Labs.

“We were already at capacity when we moved into this space last year, and this additional space will allow us to expand our team.”

The new second-floor space, which will be called “The Lab,” will allow Michigan Software Labs to expand its services and hire 12 employees, including developers.

The second floor also offers an additional suite that the firm could expand into as it grows.

Michigan Software Labs plans to renovate the space, including updating it with the firm’s branding, adding technology and conference rooms.

Grand Rapids-based Integrated Architecture is providing interior design work, and Grand Rapids-based First Companies is building out the space.

Jason Webb, associate vice president of Colliers International West Michigan, represented Michigan Software Labs in the lease deal.

Brian Sikma, president of Highpoint Real Estate & Development, represented the landlord, GELD.

“MichiganLabs is a great example of a local technology firm that’s driving growth in West Michigan,” Webb said.

Michigan Software Labs develops software for mobile, web and Internet of Things, or IoT, applications across a variety of industries.

The firm serves clients ranging from locally owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies and says its work has reached over 5-million end users.
