The opportunity has arrived to be in the audience at this year’s TEDxGrandRapids event.

Applications

Yesterday, the independently organized TED event, which has become one of the country’s most successful TEDx events, opened up applications to attend the fifth-annual event on May 7 at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.

This year’s roster of speakers has not been announced. The mission of the nonprofit TED Conferences is to share “ideas worth spreading.”

Applications to attend the Grand Rapids event will be open online until Feb. 28.

People can also get involved by signing up to volunteer or sponsor the event.

Event organizers will start emailing invitations to attendees in mid March.

Tickets cost $105, a price that includes a lunch and evening reception.

“Each year, we seek an audience of engaged and diverse attendees. In fact, we often say that the people in the seats matter even more than the people on the stage,” the website says.

“Think about what makes you special and how you can add to the event experience.”

Launch party

TEDxGrandRapids is also hosting an launch party in Grand Rapids on Feb. 4, from 6-8 p.m., at the Downtown Market.

Tickets to the launch party, which are $10 each, can be purchased online.
