A charitable dance contest wants to know who’s the best dancer in Grand Rapids.

The Danceoff

Back for its second year, The Danceoff is looking to raise money next month for its nonprofit partner, Well House in Grand Rapids, which seeks to create affordable housing for West Michigan’s homeless.

Last year’s event raised more than $4,500 for Well House and crowned Breah Simpson its first-ever champion.

Doors open for the second-annual event at 8 p.m. on Dec. 3 at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, at 68 Commerce Ave. SW. The first round of dancing begins at 9 p.m.

“After the success of last year’s event, we’re thrilled to bring back The Danceoff to showcase the extraordinary talent in the Grand Rapids area, while supporting Well House,” said Jonathan Williams, creator of The Danceoff.

This year’s first place-winner will receive $500, second place will receive $300 and third place will receive $100.

Auditions on Monday

Auditions for the event will be held on Monday, Nov. 9 from 6-9 p.m. at The Pyramid Scheme.

All ages and all styles are welcome, according to the event’s website.

Dancers unable to make the audition can submit a three-minute video to the judges.

Tickets

Space is limited, and tickets for the December event are $10. They can be purchased online.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go toward Well House.
