The Rapid is looking for 25 exceptional men and women to fill 25 bus operator positions, and the public transit system is holding a job fair on Saturday to find them.

The job fair will take place in the second-floor conference center at The Rapid Central Station, 250 Grandville Ave. SW, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday.

To qualify, applicants need to have a valid Michigan driver’s license; a chauffeur’s certification would be helpful but isn’t necessary. They also need to be dependable, able to adjust to a flexible work schedule seven days a week, and be able to pass a background check and a drug screening. Those selected would begin job training in June.

If an applicant is unable to attend the job fair, The Rapid also is taking applications at 300 Ellsworth Ave. SW, its administration office. But The Rapid is not accepting resumes for this position, so job seekers must apply in person from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and fill out an application.

All applicants should bring their driver’s license with them when applying.

More information on the bus operator position is available online at www.ridetherapid.org.

The Rapid is an equal opportunity employer and encourages minorities and women to apply.
