AHC Hospitality reopening downtown properties (update)

UPDATE (11:11 a.m. July 1, 2020): Margaux, the French restaurant located inside the JW Marriott, will reopen for indoor dinner service July 15.

Also, Amway Grand Plaza will be offering its Gerald R. Ford Ballroom at no cost to couples who had to change their wedding plans due to the pandemic for intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations.

A local hotel management company began to reopen some of its downtown properties as the state eases back on COVID-19 restrictions.

AHC Hospitality said the Amway Grand Plaza remained open during Michigan’s stay-home order, but its Starbucks, IDC, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Wolfgang Puck Kitchen Counter reopened this week.

Starbucks is open seven days per week with expanded patio seating and the newly added Nitro Brew on Tap. IDC’s speakeasy-style balcony lounge is open Wednesday-Saturday from 4 p.m.-12 a.m. and Sunday from 3-9 p.m. Ruth’s Chris Steak House is open Thursday-Saturday from 4:30-9 p.m., and reservations are required. Wolfgang Puck Kitchen Counter is open seven days per week, offering quick-grab lunch and dinner options.

In addition to the bars and restaurants opening, renovations of Amway Grand Plaza’s Pantlind side is completed. The renovations include a new room type, Superior Two Queens. New windows were installed to allow for more natural light.

The original trim work, handles and number plates on guestroom doors and guestroom crisscross ceiling bulkheads have all been kept intact at the Pantlind side.

As a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel, Amway Grand Plaza is taking part in Hilton CleanStay with Lysol Protection, a global program that is introducing a new standard of hotel cleanliness and disinfection. Face coverings will be recommended at all bars and restaurants within Amway Grand Plaza.

JW Marriott Grand Rapids will reopen to guests July 1. The jdek patio at the hotel opened Thursday. Hours are noon-8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.

The JW Marriott Grand Rapids’ International Ballroom, eight meeting rooms and pre-function space have been renovated with modern furnished designs.

Marriott Hotels & Resorts has introduced the Marriott Cleanliness Council made up of in-house and outside experts in food and water safety, hygiene and infection prevention to provide guests a safe environment during their stay.

The AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown and the Courtyard Grand Rapids Downtown will not be reopening at this time.
