A maker of products for the trucking industry has acquired a fellow West Michigan manufacturer.
Holland-based Tramec Sloan, a subsidiary of Iola, Kansas-based Tramec, said last week it acquired Muskegon-based Fleet Engineers.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mark Holm, president of Tramec Sloan, said Fleet Engineers’ “solid reputation for producing quality truck and trailer products” was a prime factor in the acquisition.
“Their American-made product line will enable us to offer our existing customers a diversified product line for commercial vehicle and industrial applications,” Holm said.
Tramec Sloan will operate Fleet Engineers as an autonomous division at its existing facility in Muskegon, 1800 E. Keating Ave.
Fleet Engineers’ employees will be retained, and its president, Wes Eklund, will become EVP of the new division within Tramec Sloan.
Eklund said his company is “looking forward” to becoming part of Tramec Sloan.
“Our combined commitment to growth, business development and exceeding customer expectations will further improve our ability to serve our current customers, expand our reach and position our companies to respond to commercial vehicle and industrial opportunities nationwide,” Eklund said.
Founded in 1977, Tramec Sloan is a manufacturer and distributor of products for the heavy-duty truck and trailer markets, including original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket dealers in the U.S.
Tramec Sloan’s manufacturing and distribution locations are in Holland, Muskegon, Galion, Ohio and Iola, Kansas, with warehouse locations in Oakville, Ontario and Dallas.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Fleet Engineers designs, manufactures and distributes product line solutions for aerodynamics, door systems, spray control and truck and trailer parts and accessories for the trucking industry.
