Muskegon’s Traxx Nightclub will be on the auction block beginning at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Orbitbid.com.
The 3,784-square-foot facility is fully operational and includes a full liquor license to serve beer, wine and spirits, as well as two separate bar areas, including one that is used as a nightclub and the other that is rented out for events. In addition, each bar space contains quality sounds systems. The bars, table, chairs, booths, coolers and glassware also are included in the sale.
The building was constructed in 1940 and has been under its current ownership for the past three years. When owner Bobby Taylor purchased the space he completed $600,000 worth of renovations to the interior.
Taylor has operated the club as an R&B spot, and is looking to sell the space due to distance. He resides out-of-state and has found managing the club from far away to be difficult.
“It’s certainly unique from our stand point,” said Steve Morse, online auction manager. Grand Rapids-based Miedema Auctioneering Inc.
“Very often we sell businesses with their assets and then a liquor license separate and the property separate. It’s very unique for us to sell everything together with a turnkey operation, where we sell it one day and you almost literally, excluding the legal stuff of closing on it, you could open up that weekend and own the business,” Morse said.
The nightclub was appraised in 2010 for $625,000 and the opening bid will be $25,000. Bids will be taken until 8 p.m.
The nightclub is located at 3236 Hoyt St. in Muskegon.
