A television station is preserving pieces of local history by visiting a donut shop.

WKTV’s "Voices" show is a local and regional "oral history project" that collects, preserves and shares stories from everyday residents of West Michigan.

Beginning Jan. 13, people can participate in interviews on the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marge’s Donut Den in Wyoming, at 1751 28th St. SW.

Participants will be asked to have conversations with a friend, family member or WKTV interviewer about their backgrounds. The sessions, which can last up to 60 minutes, will be recorded on video and audio in a WKTV Airstream trailer.

There are no limitations on discussion topics.

The recordings will be available for airing on WKTV and to share and download, and each recording will be archived with the Library of Congress.

Refreshments will be available for participants.
