The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts announced that Miranda Krajniak has been named interim executive director of the organization.
Krajniak comes to the UICA from the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, where she served as the manager of education and exhibitions.
She has previously held leadership positions with the Grand Rapids Art Museum.
“The UICA Board of Directors is very excited that Miranda will be joining and leading the team at UICA,” said Kathryn Chaplow, UICA board chair.
“She has the organizational know-how, broad background in the creative arts and long-standing relationships in the local community we have sought to provide leadership for UICA," Chaplow said. "We have been impressed by her energy and enthusiasm, as well as her track record of accomplishing big things for the SCA in a relatively short amount of time. UICA will continue the process of engaging our constituents and moving the organization forward in a bright and broad new direction under Miranda’s leadership.”
The UICA announced in 2012 that it was restructuring and undergoing some operating changes to try and ease the financial strain it had been experiencing.
Krajniak replaces previous executive director Jeffrey Meeuwsen, who vacated the position last year.
She began her new role on May 20.
