A U.K.-based activewear retailer is opening its first U.S. store in the Grand Rapids area.

Zakti will open a 6,400-square-foot store in Grandville in RiverTown Crossings, at 3700 RiverTown Pkwy., in mid November.

“We are thrilled that Zakti activewear will be opening their first U.S. location at RiverTown Crossings," said Terry McInnis, general manager, RiverTown Crossings.

RiverTown Crossings held a job fair for Zakti at the end of September, according to the mall’s website.

Firms on the project

JAG Building Group is the general contractor on the store's build out.

Grand Rapids-based Titan Interiors worked on drywalling, metal studs and wall treatments for the store.

Based in London and founded in 2015, Zakti sells “athleisure wear” for men, women and children, with a focus on younger professionals and mothers.

“All of Zakti's products have been designed with innovation and technical aspects in mind," said Shantelle Augier, buying and merchandising director for Zakti and sister brand Mountain Warehouse.

The company was founded by Mark Neale, the founder and CEO of U.K.-based Mountain Warehouse.

Zakti has four stores in the U.K. and opened its first store in Canada last month. It plans to open two additional stores in Canada by the end of the year.
