A textile rental company for various markets is building a new facility in northern Michigan.

Kalamazoo-based Continental Linen Services, or CLS, broke ground last month on a new 6,000-square-foot storage depot and sales location in Haring Township, which borders Cadillac, at Bell Avenue and Plett Road.

The facility will house 12 CLS employees who currently work a few blocks away at a leased facility at 316 Bell Road.

The project is expected to cost about $850,000.

“Our longstanding relationships with our customers, our business growth and our commitment to our team members and the surrounding community are the reasons we are making this investment,” said Bill Aton, executive vice president of CLS. “This location will … provide a first-class working environment that our team members will be proud to call home.”

Sarah Wrubel, senior vice president and co-owner, said CLS needed room to grow.

“We want to continue supporting the community in Cadillac by providing stable employment for our team members and providing our products and services to our customers who depend on us every day,” she said.

CLS serves more than 1,000 customers in the northwest part of the Lower Peninsula out of its current Cadillac branch.

The textile rental company has had a branch in Cadillac since 1982.

Marion-based Dracht Construction is the project’s contractor.
