Universal Forest Products has appointed one of its executives to lead its new international division in the U.K.
The Grand Rapids-based holding company said yesterday that it has promoted Michael Mordell to EVP of international operations at UFP Global Holdings, Ltd.
Mordell currently leads the company’s purchasing affiliate as EVP of purchasing.
He will begin his new role on Oct. 1.
Mordell will be responsible for sales, production, distribution and other endeavors related to Universal Forest’s business and operations outside of the U.S. and for growing sales and profitability in the international arena.
Mordell is a 23-year veteran of Universal Forest.
He joined the company in 1993 as a lumber buyer and has held leadership positions in purchasing and operations.
Matthew Missad, CEO of Universal Forest Products, said Universal Forest seeks to expand internationally, and he has “great confidence” the company will achieve that goal with Mordell “at the helm of the international division.”
“He is a bold and creative leader, who has had years of experience and success in our industries and at our company,” Missad said.
Mordell said he’s “honored” by the opportunity to develop the new international division.
“I look forward to building the UFP Global organization and team and to developing and successfully implementing strategies for growth with them,” he said. “This is an exciting venture and a great time to be at Universal Forest Products, as we seek new avenues to build on our success.”
Universal Forest Products is a holding company that provides capital, management and administrative resources to subsidiaries in three markets: retail, construction and industrial.
